Armenia

Why visit Armenia

  1. Ancient history within an hour of the capital

A first-century temple at Garni, rock-cut churches at Geghard and the view of Ararat from Khor Virap are all under an hour from Yerevan.

  2. Monasteries in extraordinary landscapes

Tatev on its cliff above the Vorotan gorge, Noravank in a red-rock canyon, Haghartsin in beech forest: the settings are as memorable as the architecture.

  3. One of the oldest wine cultures on earth

Archaeologists found an ancient winery in the Areni-1 cave. Today, Areni and Voskehat grapes are at the heart of a fast-growing wine scene.

  4. Compact, varied and easy to combine

Alpine lakes, forests, canyons and a lively café-filled capital fit into a country you can cross in a day, so even a week feels rich.
